I am a Director at Concentus Wealth Advisors and serve as a Lead Advisor and Relationship Manager to many of our firm’s clients. Additionally, I serve as the Chairman of our Investment Advisory and Portfolio Management Committees.
Investments have always interested me, and I knew from a young age that I wanted to pursue a career in “money” – if for no other reason than to know how to maximize my own financial resources. I sensibly figured this skill would always be important.
In my early teens, I’d drag my mother to the bank, so that I could invest my savings in their latest Certificate of Deposit offering. I’d mark my calendar with the maturity date, so I knew when to return and buy another one. It felt irresponsible keeping my cash in an interest-bearing account when I could earn more money in a CD. Little did I know, I was educating myself on capital markets, interest rates, liquidity, opportunity costs, etc. Thanks, Mom!
After graduating from Bloomsburg University with a degree in finance, I got a job in Vanguard’s Retirement Services department. I worked specifically with company retirement plans and their employees. A few months into my career, it became apparent to me that most Americans are financially illiterate. It was also apparent that I derived great joy in sharing my knowledge, helping people to navigate and understand their accounts and the financial markets. I can recall many conversations helping investors through critical moments of their lives.
I vividly remember receiving a phone call from an elderly widow who had recently lost her husband. She did not know where to turn to figure out her next steps, let alone, how much money was in her deceased husband’s retirement plan. I was her only source of information. Without ever meeting her in person, I genuinely cared for her financial and emotional well-being. If I am lucky enough to work with you as your advisor, I promise you will find that same sense of genuine care.
My quest for continual learning compelled me to get an M.B.A. from St. Joseph’s University in 2009, with a concentrated focus on finance. Most recently, I received my Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation in 2016. This certification helped me hone my craft of holistic financial planning, which is critical in helping clients coordinate all phases of their financial lives, such as taxes, estate planning, insurance, retirement planning, etc.
Finally, I am proud to find myself working for such a remarkable company. We display a plaque in our conference room with the firm’s core values. I urge you to read it the next time you are in our office. The first core value that is listed is this, “We Do What Is Right: Integrity drives every decision we make, even when it is hard.” I know every member of our team shares the same passion for our clients and exemplifies the highest integrity across the board. We do what is right!
